What is Naprosyn prescribed for?
Generic Naprosyn (Naproxen) is a non steroidal antirheumatic medication with anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antipyretic action. Generic Naprosyn (Naproxen) is recommended for treating the following medical conditions:
rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, gout and soft-tissue damage;
inflammatory and degenerative diseases of locomotor apparatus
Pain syndrome, myalgia, neuralgia, arthralgia, radiculitis, headache, toothache, tendinitis, posttraumaticand and postsurgical pain syndrome accompanied with inflammation, algodismenorrhea, adnexitis;
infectious disease affecting ENT: pharyngitis, tonsillitis, otitis, etc.
Naprosyn is also used in oncological patients and during delivery as an analgesic or tocolytic agent.
Generic Naprosyn (Naproxen) is taken by mouth 2 times a day; the daily dose of Generic Naprosyn (Naproxen) is 500 mg (250 mg in the morning and 250mg in the evening). The daily dose may be increased up to 750mg in case of necessity.
Side effects caused by Generic Naprosyn (Naproxen) may include unpleasant feelings in the upper part of gastrointestinal tract (pressure, pain, heartburn) and headache, dizziness and sweating. Rarely skin rush may occur.
No drug interactions associated with Generic Naprosyn (Naproxen) has been known. The medicine is not recommended to children under 16, pregnant and nursing women and patients who has history of gastrointestinal bleeding or who has compromised liver function, heart disease or allergy to anti-inflammatory medicines(especially to acetylsalicylic acid).
