Anafranil (Clomipramine) – antidepressant with wide specter of use

Anafranil (Clomipramine) has a specific effect in patients suffering from obsessive-compulsive disorders.    The action of Anafranil (Clomipramine)  (when used for treating chronic pain syndrome caused by somatic and non-somatic diseases) consists in facilitating nerve impulse transfer.  The medicine is effective for treating depressive conditions of various etiologies with various symptoms (endogenous, reactive, neurotic, organic, absconded and involutional forms of depression; depression in patients suffering from schizophrenia and psychopathy;   depressive syndromes developed in old age, etc.). Anafranil (Clomipramine) is also used for treating of the following conditions:
- obsessive -compulsive syndrome;
- chronic pain syndrome
- phobias and panic disorders (attacks);
- cataplexy concomitant to narcolepsy;
- night enuresis (only in patients older than 5 years old and who do not have any organic disease).
Anafranil (Clomipramine) contraindications:
The medicine should not be used in patients with history of cardiac infarction and during pregnancy.
Anafranil (Clomipramine) and breastfeeding:  the medicine is found in breast milk and is not recommended to nursing mothers.
Recently veterinarians have adopted Anafranil (Clomipramine) for dogs and cats for treating behavioral disorders.
Clomipramine is a generic version of Anafranil. Generic Clomipramine  is much cheaper but equals the brand analogue  in quality.
