Zithromax (Azithromycin) is an antibiotic used for treating respiratory, skin and other infections. Zithromax is also frequently used for treating soft tissue infections, especially if the disease is caused by Chlamydia trachomatis. Zithromax (Azithromycin) is effective for treating upper airways infections (septic sore throat and tonsillitis) and lower ones (chronic obstructive pneumonia, interstitial and alveolar pneumonia, bacterial bronchitis), ear, nose, throat infections (otitis media, laryngitis and sinusitis), urogenital infections(urethritis and и cervicitis), skin and soft tissue infections (erysipelas, impetigo variolosa, infectious dermatoses, chronic stage of migrating erythema).
Possible side effects of Zithromax (Azithromycin): allergic reactions, nausea, vomiting. Zithromax is taken by mouth 1 hour before or 2 hours after meal once a day. The dose for adult patients with upper and lower airway infections and skin and soft tissue infections is 0,5 g in the first day of teratment, o,25 g a day from the second up to the 5th day of treatment, or 0,5 mg a day within 3 days. The dose for patients with urogenital diseases is 1 g taken at once. The dose for patients who are on a chronic stage of migrating erythema is 1 g on the first day of the treatment course, 500 mg from the 2nd to the fifth day (total course dosage is 3 g).

The dosage for children older than 12 months is 10 mg per 1 kg of body weight on the first day; Than 5 mg per 1 kg of body weight within 4 days, or 10 mg per 1 kg within 3 days (total course dosage is 30mg per kg); the dosage for children on a chronic stage of migrating erythema is 20mg per 1 kg of body weight on the first day and 10 mg per kg from the second to the fifth day of the treatment course.
