Motrin has an anti-inflammatory, analgesic and anti-fever medication. The medication reduces pain syndrome including joint pain at rest and motion, decreases morning stiffness and joint swelling, increases range of motions.
Motrin (Ibuprofen) is also used for treating rheumatoid arthritis, tendinitis, radiculitis, pain syndrome of mild and moderate intensity caused by soft tissue injuries, headache, toothache, menstrual loss of blood in patients who use intrauterine devices.
The dose of Motrin (Ibuprofen) is chosen individually for each patients depending on the reaction of a patient to the medicine, intensity of symptoms at the initial stage of treatment and effectiveness of the medicine. It is recommended to start from the smallest effective dose. Only a healthcare professional may prescribe the right dosage for you and determine the duration of the treatment course.
Motrin side effects are usually mild and very rare.
Motrin (Ibuprofen Tablets) is taken by mouth after meal.
The dosage of Motrin for adults is:
Osteoarthritis – 400-600 mg trice a day
Rheumatoid arthritis – 800 mg trice a day
Soft tissue injuries, strains – 1.6-2.4 g a day
Moderate pain – 1.2 g a day.
The initial dosage of Motrin (Ibuprofen) for children above 12 years old is: 150-300 mg trice a day; the maximal dose for children is 1 g a day; the dosage for reduction body temperature above 39.2 degrees C is 10 mg per 1 kg of body weight a day, and the dose for body temperature below 39.2 C is 5 mg per 1 kg a day.
